Breast Thermography

Breast Thermography - A new method for Breast Cancer Prevention- we think so...

What is this?  It is a non-invasive, radiation-free, FDA-approved, fairly inexpensive procedure that detects early tumor and pre-cancerous changes, therefor having the capability of true prevention.  This is about identifying woman's breasts that are at risk for developing tumors and should be a routine part of women's health care.  If this method can identify tissue in which tumors are more likely to emerge with no radiation, but by picking up infrared emission from the surface of the skin and displays detailed termperature patterns, less routine mammography or the need at all, would be necessary.  Research over the last 40 plus years has shown a consistent relationship between abnormally high breast tissue temperature and increased vascularity suggestive of angiogenesis (sterns EE, et al. Cancer. 1996; 77; 1324-1328; Head JF, et al. Ann NY Acad Sci. 1993; 698; 153-158).  This in turn, correlates with cancer. Thermography allows early detection safley with no radiation or side effects.  According to an article written in Holitic Primary Care magazine, Dr Neil Hirschenbein, MD who has been using the technique for over 2 years, says "The most powerful argument for thermography is that with thermography, you are looking at physiology, whereas mammography looks at anatomy; and physiology almost always changes before anatomy changes.  So this is extremely helpful for prevention".  This information can be very empowering and you should ask your health care provider about this new method of detection.
